So...theoretically I retired from school teaching three years ago. I have found myself working two days a week as a chaplain at the school I taught at for many years. What do I do the other days? A bit of housework is necessary, proofreading church newsletters is appreciated, coffees with friends and relatives is enjoyed, home group studies and church policy documentation is service... and writing.

I have been writing hobby-wise for over twelve years-mainly fiction, some apologetics and a few devotions. I have two brothers who read my material enthusiastically (they say) and so I thought I'd broaden my audience. I can't help thinking that providing one chapter of a novel could be very frustrating to the reader so I'm open to suggestions for delivering the complete narratives.

I am averse to self publishing. It may be my Dutch heritage-I'm a tight wad- or it could be that I have heard it referred to as 'vanity publishing' and I'm probably too proud to consider myself vain! And anyway, the pleasure I get from writing and reading my own material, constantly editing it, is satisfying in itself. Perhaps I'm a bit narcissistic too.

Hmmm...I like the term you used "vanity publishing" very descriptive and accurate!
Unfortunately we are plagued by those who eagerly foist their mediocrity upon us as if an obnoxious, insipid, narcissistic assault on art and creativity and then there are those reluctant pearls and gems that shine brightly, shrink back and away from higher visibility...it is a shame really.
There...I said it, someone had to.
In essence sit in the back of the class and dread that "Teacher/Rabboni" may call on them to come up to the proverbial "blackboard".
Welcome to C.C.W.
