Lamination

Different kinds of wood
Small blocks only
Fractional inches thick
Some light, some dark
Some harder than others
Glued together
Under clamp pressure
And a glued base plate
Time passes...
Cometh the lathe
And the clamping
The spinning
The varieties of chisel
Cutting rough
And cutting fine
Making noise
Or hardly heard
First the outside contours
For general appearance
But eventually face on
For the inner, working
Part of the vessel
Craftsman knows His job
Wood submits
Spinning
But strangely all working
Together for good
A beautiful piece created
Every step necessary
In the delightful
Age-old process
Of shaping a saint.
Every cut with love.
And Sovereign vision.

Basically, though it was a different choice of words and I am not quoting verbatim, Matthew said: "the difference between knowledge and wisdom is comparable to the difference between temporal and eternal.

I am happy for Matthew's input. He is prepared to pick up, spin around, put down, chew and respond. Good stuff! But I wonder; has everybody else at CCW taken off for the ice cream parlour?
I am reminded of a library filled with shelves of books giving glory to the writers, but having no comfortable lounge for visitors to sit down relaxed for discussion and sharing of discoveries. You and I Anthony have enjoyed that richly elsewhere, and shall continue...

Tell Matthew that the poem was as he suggested. But it was also describing the block of wood as something handled and shaped by choices that were not usually of its own making or refinement. Through Grace the Craftsman gets the glory, and the crafted item will be a delight throughout eternity.

Don't have any good answers Blair to your first response as to the second i'll show it to him when he gets off from work.
I'm very occupied with caring for the abundant birds in hand and no longer have time for glancing lustfully towards the noisy bustling bush...and simply "grateful!"

Oh so you are prepared to engage in the Great Work in miniature, just like Ruth a-gleaning. For these days that is the right answer. You are where you are. Bravo...and no Marco Polo lustings:)
