                            Even So

My child calls my name
in a moment of need,
to witness success
or excuse a bad deed.
And I respond,
according to his act,
commending his effort,
or condemning his lack.

 EVEN SO MY FATHER GOD

And when my child
requests my time,
and puts a trusting
hand in mine,
my face and heart
are made to smile
as I accept with joy
this little while.

 EVEN SO MY FATHER GOD

Than, as he grows,
my child becomes bored;
His interests widen;
I'm sometimes ignored.
Warm, then cold,
like fickle weather,
I miss the time
we spent together

EVEN SO MY FATHER GOD

But, still I wait,
ever caring, ever near,
for my child to return,
driven by his fear.
I bolster his courage,
and wipe the tears
prompted by the world
and thoughtless peers.

EVEN SO MY FATHER GOD

I worry, I watch
as he continues to grow.
But the sands of time
continue to flow.
Many times parenting
leaves me disenchanted,
as my child takes my favor
totally for granted.

EVEN SO MY FATHER GOD

Then disenchantment
turns to grief,
as my child succumbs
to the world's unbelief.
He turns his back
on eternal treasures
in search of vain and
fleeting pleasures.

EVEN SO MY FATHER GOD

 But, still, I wait
with hope unabated
for my child's own faith
to be reinstated.
I yearn for the day
when his starving soul
returns to his home
to once more be whole.

EVEN SO MY FATHER GOD

 And, oh, how it thrills
a parent's heart
when a wayward child
makes a fresh start.
We long to protect
and keep ever near
this precious soul
we hold so dear.

EVEN SO MY FATHER GOD

And just as we
forgive again
,
our Heavenly Father
forgives our sin.
He takes us back
in His Loving Arms
and holds us close,
safe from harm.

SO GLAD IS MY FATHER GOD

May we, the children,
of the Shepherd God
be led by His Staff
and respond to His Rod.
May we, His children,
no more make Him sad.
May we, His children,
make the Heart of God glad.

Even So Love Your Father God!
