The brickyard's hard, and it can leave a lot of scars
I can truly be free...or remain behind bars...

Brick by brick this prison was laid
and every tricky promise this world has made
only adds another day, another month, another year
Broken promises are honestly the only kind here
How many calendars must I mark
Another day gone, living dead in the dark
Year after tear after fear...isolation
Lethal injection becomes my only consolation
I'll ride the lightning as I write my final breath
I've heard the verdict of the world; I am sentenced to death...

Brick by brick this church was built
to replace with faith all the fear, pain and guilt
The moment I begin is the moment I am in
A covenant made...paid to cover all my sin
I am living in the light of mercy and grace
for God uniquely entered into time and space
in the person of Jesus Christ...salvation
and he knew I'd write this rhyme since the time of my creation
Although my halo's broken, tattered and torn
from within these walls...an angel's born...

My life to the world...or to He who is risen
I am the church...or I am the prison...
