PostSubject: What I've Been Reading   Sat Jan 07, 2012 8:53 pm

I thought I would start sharing what I'm currently reading, just to give others ideas for what they may consider reading in the future. I'm always reading the Bible of course and then 2 or 3 others. At least one of them always includes a Christian author or two and the other is usually some kind of classic lit.

So, hold on to your socks, but I'm reading "The Three Musketeers" by Alexandre Dumas. The cheese factor is enormous but the plot and humor keep me interested. The language is a little sophisticated and sometimes outdated, but I enjoy reading works like that because it keeps my writing skills sharper. It's an entertaining read. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars.

I'm also reading "The Power of Blessing" by Kerry Kirkwood. Although I don't agree entirely with every little thing the book is talking about, there is a lot of good stuff to be gained by reading this book. I would recommend it as a good Christian book to read.

I'm also finishing up rereading "Changes that Heal" by Dr. Henry Cloud. I give this book a five star rating . It is an absolute must in every Christian's library, and it will teach you practical steps on how to keep emotionally healthy from a Biblical perspective. I am certain it will open your eyes to some things that you never thought of before.

I just finished rereading Corrie ten Boom's "The Hiding Place" and "Tramp for the Lord." These two books are some the most moving books you'll ever read. I have reread them several times and they never fail to leave me feeling pumped up and ready to take on the world. She is one of the most amazing Christian women to have ever lived, in my opinion, and you'll not be sorry for having met her through her stories. She has gone to be with the Lord now, but her work continues to touch others in very profound ways.

Finally, I also just finished rereading "The Hobbit" and all three parts of "The Lord of the Rings" by Tolkien. I reread this set every year around Christmas. The Christian symbolism contained in these books and the imagination that went into them is stellar. Tolkien was a true master of his art. He is possibly my most favorite author of all time. When ever I finish reading these books I always walk away with a little empty feeling of regret for having finished them.
