PostSubject: Self Evaluation   Fri Oct 21, 2011 3:08 am

I have learned something about myself as a writer and maybe someone else has come to the same conclusion. I do not write for literary correctness. I write for the pleasure it gives me to share my poetry and stories with others. Therefore, I do not take criticism of my work very well. In some cases it doesn't bother me, but in others it is like tearing my heart out. That is why I love this forum, it gives me positive input and lets me know others enjoy without being critical. I probably should have put this under prayer requests because I need God's forgiveness for being too possessive.

God bless and keep you.

Awe, so sweet. I'm so glad you've been able to find your love of writing again. It warms my heart. I think we've all felt that way about our work at one time or anther. I remember the first short story I shared in my creative writing class in college. It was tore apart from beginning to end and there were no survivors, believe me. I was devastated. After a year of gut wrenching criticism, I started to be less sensitive to it and even started appreciating it. I realized it was helping, because by the time the next year rolled around I found myself taking another creative writing course with the same professor, and she said she had never seen anyone improve so much and so quickly as I had. What a hard lesson that was. I'm not saying that the same rude behavior should be followed on this site, as this is not a secular writing site with unfeeling academics. Only that I understand where you're coming from and am guilty of the same possessive feelings for my work. Therefore, my prayers are with you.
